Montana State’s American Marketing Association heads to Chicago to compete in the International Collegiate Conference

One of Five Top Finishers Representing MSU’s American Marketing Association Chapter at a National Event

Bozeman, Mont. - March 13, 2022 - Montana State University's student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) will compete for the fifth consecutive year at the International Collegiate Conference (ICC) on March 17-19 in Chicago. This year, the students will participate in 14 competitions, including Chapter of Year, in which MSU was named a Top 10 chapter each of the past two years.

“ICC is exciting, rewarding, and a great opportunity for everyone attending,” said Isabelle Ivankovich, president of MSU’s AMA chapter. “I am so proud of all of the hard work this chapter has put in this year preparing for this incredible conference.”

Seventeen students representing Montana State at ICC this year are competing in the following:

●  Case Competition - Shayna Armer of Billings, Mont., Emma Davidson of Weiser, Idaho., Mary Landes of Juneau, Alaska., Keely Morrison of Helena, Mont., and Hunter Young of Billings, Mont.

●  Undergraduate Research - Keely Morrison of Helena, Mont.

●  Marketing Strategy - Shayna Armer of Billings, Mont., and Hunter Young of Billings, Mont.

●  SABRE Business Simulation - Abby Elliot of Billings, Amaya Frank of Bozeman, Mariah Moulton of Conrad, Kathleen Glockner of Park Ridge, Illinois, and Kalysta Tripp of Billings.

●  Marketplace Simulation - Landon Lees of Loveland, Colorado, Joe Bone of Santa Rosa, California., Henry Bransford of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Robin Arneson of Bozeman.

●  Sales Competition - Isabelle Ivankovich of Snohomish, Washington., Will Cumley of Helena, and Max Beebe of Missoula, Mont.

●  Perfect Pitch Competition - Max Beebe of Missoula, Mont

●  Chapter Competitions - Website Competition, T-Shirt Competition, Marketing Week, Recruitment Video, and Chapter of the Year.

The International Collegiate Conference is an annual AMA event inviting student-led chapters across the country to compete in a variety of competitions, network with professionals and students from other universities, and hear from experts. ICC this year will be a hybrid, allowing students to participate virtually or in person.

Highlights at ICC this year include:

Thursday, March 17

●  Case Competition Finals sponsored by Amazon Prime Student. The MSU chapter has captured third place in three of the past four years.

●  Undergraduate Research Competition. MSU students have won this competition twice in the past three years.

●  Social Scramble and T-Shirt Exchange

●  Opening Kickoff. Parade of Chapters, & Keynote speaker, Roy Broderick, Jr., President & CEO of Authentique (Live-streamed).

Friday, March 18

●  Marketing Strategy Competition. Students from MSU have won two of the past three years, and finished second the other year.

●  Perfect Pitch Competition Sponsored by C.H Robinson. Students from MSU have made the finals three of the past four years.

●  Sales competition sponsored by Sherwin Williams. An MSU student won this event last year, after students finished second and third the previous two years.

●  Keynote speaker Carly Zipp, head of B2B marketing for TikTok. Saturday, March 19

●  Winning case presentation (Live-streamed).

●  Final rounds of Marketing Strategy, Perfect Pitch, and the Sales Competition.

●  Chapter awards banquet (Live-streamed).

“I’m really proud and impressed by all the students’ hard work this year and I am looking forward to their continued successes on an international scale,” said Eric Van Steenburg, Associate Professor of Marketing in the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship and faculty advisor of the College’s AMA chapter.

Events available for livestream through the Cvent Platform are the Competitions Ceremony, Winning Case Presentation, Chapter Awards Banquet, Virtual Perfect Pitch Finals, and Opening Kickoff Parade.

The American Marketing Association at Montana State is MSU’s student chapter of the AMA.
