Cumley, Ivankovich Capture First Place Honors During Annual Sales Week

Bozeman Mont. - Feb. 11, 2022 - Will Cumley took first place in the Navitec’s National Sales Competition, while Isabelle Ivankovich won the Big Sky Staffing Perfect Pitch Competition during the American Marketing Association’s annual Sales Week Feb. 7-9. By capturing first in each competition, the students also win $500 to fund their trip to the annual AMA International Collegiate Conference, taking place March 17-19 in Chicago.

“The competition was fantastic, it was so much fun competing! It was great getting real experience in selling a product in a one-on-one situation. I still can’t really believe that I won!” Said Cumley.

AMA’s annual sales week began with a coaching clinic that aimed to help students improve their sales pitches. Tuesday, students participated in Navitec’s National Sales Competition where they were given a hypothetical scenario and asked to meet with the CIO of a prestigious worldwide company to secure a final appointment to “close the deal.” Students were scored by judges made up of sales professionals in the Bozeman area and beyond.

The next night, the Big Sky Staffing’s Perfect Pitch Competition required participants to pitch themselves in 90 seconds or less for a potential job opportunity in front of a panel of “hiring managers.” Judges in the panel represented individuals working in HR, sales, marketing, and fundraising.

“I think the Perfect Pitch competition is a great example of low risk, high reward. You give 90 seconds of your time to pitching yourself to a panel of judges that could potentially land you a job. This competition and the opportunities it has given me contributed to my post-graduate job offer. I am very grateful to everyone who made that possible!” Said Ivankovich following her win.

The top three finishers in the Navitec’s National Sales Competition were:

  1. Will Cumley

  2. Maxfield Beebe

  3. Emma Davidson

The top three finishers in the Big Sky Staffing’s Perfect Pitch Competition were:

  1. Isabelle Ivankovich

  2. Shayna Armer

  3. Emma Davidson
